Beamish news

The transfer of Blackpool 147 and Blackpool 703 (which has masqueraded as Sunderland 101 at Beamish) to their home town took place on March and Blackpool 31 arrived back at Beamish as part of the loan agreement. 147 had its dark green paintwork restored and some bodywork attention before the transfer but will require attention to its trucks before it can re-enter service as part of the heritage fleet at Blackpool. 31 is now stored pending reassembly and deep cleaning, possibly including a re-varnish. It will not operate in service until it has been re-tyred. Porto 196 and Newcastle 114 are also due for re-varnishing shortly. The depot shunt as a consequence of the transfer of the two cars to Blackpool saw the Newcastle & Gosforth horse tram moved into the tram depot for continued restoration.
