European Tram Driver Championship

The 2016 championship (tram-EM) is being held in Berlin between 22 and 24 April. The Berlin transport authority (BVG) are host and provide not only the necessary vehicles, but also their depot at Siegfriedstraße in Lichtenberg as the event site.

After joint preparations on Friday the main competition is on 23 April . According to organizers, the competitions will be held on a 150-meter course with three tracks and two different types of trams (Flexity and Tatra). There are four disciplines judged by a points and time measurement. These are
1. Sudden Stops
2. Lateral Distance
3. Exact Stop
4. Push-Driving Operation
5. Tram Bowling

This year 27 teams from 17 European countries are taking part including a team from Midland Metro. Further information can be found on the Tram-EM facebook page
